Preschool Programs & Summer

Our Montessori inspired classrooms provide a prepared environment where children are free to respond to their natural drive to work and learn. The children's inherent love of learning is encourage by giving them opportunities to engage in spontaneous, meaningful activities under the guidance of a trained adult. Through their work , the children develop concentration, motivation, persistence and discipline. Within this framework of order, the children progress at their own pace and rhythm, according to their individual capabilities during the crucial years of development.

The Anderson Prep Preschool classrooms consist of the following main areas:

Practical Life
The young child is attracted to activities that give independence and control over their own life. In the classroom, children practice such activities as pouring, hand washing and buttoning.  The purpose of these activities is to develop concentration and attention to detail, finishing each task and putting away all materials before going on to another activity. The child may repeat each activity as often as they like, therefore perfecting coordination and extending concentration.

Sensorial
The child explores dimension, shape, color, texture, aroma and their relationships through a series of sensorial materials. These materials isolate various qualities so that the child can experience each one individually. The materials are largely self-correcting so the child can accomplish the activity alone. Moreover, they are structured, building on what has been previously learned.

Language
As part of our handwriting and reading curriculum we have incorporated Handwriting Without Tears. The Handwriting Without Tears curriculum draws from years of innovation and research to engage each child and to provide developmentally appropriate multisensory tools and strategies for each children (3-5 years).

Math
The mathematical materials used at Anderson Prep Preschool isolate each concept and is introduced to the child in a concrete form using manipulatives. Children first learn to associate each numerical symbol with the proper quantity. The child progresses one step at a time to a more abstract understanding of the concepts of arithmetic.

Bible
We start our day with bible time. We involve the children with the bible stories. We also have bible verses and songs that will allow your child to enjoy and start each day knowing that God loves each one of them.

Spanish / Art / Music
Spanish is taught twice a week to our Toddler and Primary children. Studies have shown that students who learn another language have improved overall school performance, increased creativity and are better at solving complex problems. Art is integrated as part of our everyday curriculum. Music is taught throughout the day. Early introduction to music does more than entertain, it serves as an important part of a child's routine and offers lifelong benefits.
